  • American Historical Association

    • The American Historical Association (AHA) was founded in 1884 and incorporated by Congress in 1889 to serve the broad field of history. It encompasses every historical period and geographical area and serves professional historians in all areas of employment.

  • Organization for American Historians

    • The largest learned society devoted to the study of American history. Since its founding in 1907 as the Mississippi Valley Historical Association, the OAH has promoted the study and teaching of the American past through its many activities..

  • Southern Historical Association

    • Organized on November 2, 1934, the groups main objectives are the promotion of interest and research in southern history, the collection and preservation of the South's historical records, and the encouragement of state and local historical societies in the South. As a secondary purpose the Association fosters the teaching and study of all areas of history in the South.

  • Society of American Archivist

    • Founded in 1936, the Society of American Archivists is North America's oldest and largest national archival professional association. SAA's mission is to serve the educational and informational needs of more than 5,000 individual and institutional members and to provide leadership to ensure the identification, preservation, and use of records of historical value.

  • Society of Alabama Archivist

    • The Society of Alabama Archivists (SALA) is composed of archivists throughout Alabama as well as people from other states who are interested in Alabama history.  Its members include archivists from the Alabama Department of Archives and History, the state's municipalities and counties, its colleges and universities, its military installations, and it’s many special topic archives.
