This is an undergraduate history survey course that covers World History to 1500. It is typically taken by first year students, though there are often a number of others at all collegiate levels. It is part of the core electives. As primary instructor, I prepare and lectured on all subject areas within the scope and content of the course. During these lessons, I used a combination of visual stimulation and questioning to actively interpret and assess student comprehension. Written exercises prior to the lectures stimulated interest and emphasized the importance of the subject matter. I was responsible for grading written assignments and assessments associated with the course. I held regular office hours outside the classroom as well as made myself available to the students at alternate times in order to better facilitate their learning potential.

Graduate Teaching Assistant – Survey in American History

08/2007 – 12/2007

This is an undergraduate history survey course that covers the U.S. history from its beginning to present. It is typically taken by first year students,  though there are often a number of others at all collegiate levels. It is part of the core electives. As a teaching assistant I helped prepare lectures, grade assignments, and proctor exams. In addition, I taught weekly to a group of 25 students, covering questions on previous lectures as well as  introducing new materials. I was responsible for leading discussions on five assigned books. This required the students write numerous papers which I was responsible for assessing. I utilized various instructional methods which required the use of higher learning skills such as interpretation, evaluation, analysis, and synthesis, in conjunction with a solid knowledge base. Thus, students were better able to comprehend and actively apply what they had learned. I held regular office hours outside the classroom in order to better facilitate their learning potential.
