I am a 40 something male chasing the American dream, which is to say my dream, in whatever form it may be at the moment. These adventures usually revolve around history, teaching, and some kind of artistic pursuit. I was born in Birmingham, AL and initially raised in a place called Happy Home, Alabama (Yes, it does exist). When I was five, the house burnt (I had nothing to do with it though I was in it at the time it started) and my family (including me) moved briefly to a place called Moody, AL. Thereafter, at the tender age of six, I came to live in Graysville, AL, where I remained for the next umpteen years. I went to Graysville Elementary, Bottenfield Jr. High, and Minor High Schools, somehow managing to survive all and graduate with an academic diploma. I attended both Auburn University, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, earning several degrees, most notably in history. I went on to get a M.A. in History and a M.A.Ed (abi) in Secondary Education at the University of Montevallo. Now I am in pursuit of a PhD in the Department of History at Georgia State University. Along the way I got married, got divorced, pursued further education, got remarried (she’s great), discovered an interest in theatre and film, fell in love with teaching and instruction, and became a happily bitter and grumpy historian/instructor/artist  that enjoys the solitude of a life with little interference.

I would also like to add that I like cookies and have a cat named CTO Seven, which stands for Chinese Take Out No. 7. I also live with a Yorkie dog named Zippy… which stands for Zippy.
